The Sailing World Cup Final kicked off in Santander, Spain today (6 June) with riders aiming to put some 'keepers' on the board.It's a common phrase in sailing (and as such, kiteboard racing), you cannot win on the opening day, but you could lose it. Sailors (and as such, kiteboarders) are always thrilled when they have a return of straight race victories. Then there are times when they are happy to come out in one piece, still within touching distance of the medals. A grey, overcast morning welcomed the sailors from the ten Olympic classes as well as the Open Kiteboarding (foiling Formula Kite) and the 2.4 Norlin OD, a Para World Sailing event, to the boat park with an expected morning breeze of 7-12 knots from the west. Melbourne confirms Sailing World Cup Final for Kiteboarding
The 2016 Sailing World Cup Final set to be held out of St. Kilda sailing precinct in Melbourne, Australia from 4-11 December will see Kiteboarders fly once again on Port Philip but this time, on foils. The IKA Formula Kite (foil) class event will feature 20 competitors, 16 male and 4 female, the same as the Olympic events.
